Born in Kärnten, Austria Markus Werba began his vocal training aged 16. Later he studied singing at the Klagenfurt conservatory and at the Vienna Musikuniversität. He has won with numerous first prizes in various singing competitions in Austria, Italy, Slovenia and Japan.
Despite his relative youth Markus has already established a remarkable career and is now regarded as one of the leading baritones of his generation. He has a wide range of repertoire from the complete Mozart/Da Ponte operas to Mahler and Schumann which he recites at prestigious venues all over the globe including Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Metropolitan Opera New York, LA Opera, Wiener Staatsoper, Suntory Hall Japan and Salzburg and Baden-Baden Festivals.
