The Opera Chorus of Salerno

The Opera Chorus of Salerno

The history of the vocal ensemble began in Salerno in 1997, when it was founded.
Also in 1997, a critical production of Falstaff inaugurated the completely restored 'Giuseppe Verdi' Municipal Theatre. Rolando Panerai was the main protagonist of the production, where the Opera House Choir made its stage debut.
The choir has become a fundamental part of the productions of the main theatre in Salerno. Its huge repertoire, in fact, covers four centuries of operas and also includes operettas, oratorios and sacred works. The artistic experience of the ensemble, mainly formed by young people from Salerno and Campania, and in most cases with a background at the 'Giuseppe Martucci' Music Conservatory of Salerno, was also developed thanks to the indispensable help of the choirmasters who, since its foundation, have refined and honed the artistic level of its members.
Today the choir is a fixed presence in productions such as: Messa da Requiem by Verdi, Traviata, Nabucco, Cavalleria Rusticana, Tosca, Norma, La Bohème, Carmen, Ninth Symphony by Beethoven.
